Parent Feedback 2018

At the end of the 2018 summer term our children took home annual reports on their learning over the year – and we asked parents for their comments about the school.  Eighty-six parents responded and we thank you all for taking the time to let us have your views. Here are some of the comments our parents made, together with our responses.

I’m very happy with my child’s report in his first full time year at school. He’s thoroughly enjoyed it and so have I! I’m really happy he’s had a great teaching team. […] they have been very supportive and encouraging, especially in recognising his skills and abilities.

Thank you very for much helping my daughter to make extremely good progress.

I think my daughter is learning great. Thank you!

Extremely proud of [my child’s] progress this school year. Thank you.

I am very pleased with my son’s report! He has made such great progress, resulting in excellent SATs results. Many thanks to his teaching/supporting staff for helping him achieve his best throughout his learning journey.

[My child’s] report was a joy to read and I agree with what distracts him. We will be trying our best to improve where needed. Thanks to [teachers’ names] for all your hard work. ☺

[The report is] very accurate and precise. […] Thank you for the support you gave to him.

Thank you for the effort and work [my child’s] teachers have put in. His report is on point and I agree with it and agree with areas [my child] needs to improve on.

I am very happy with [my child’s] progress and keep up the good work.

Woolmore says: Thank you for your feedback. All our staff work hard to help pupils become independent learners who can realise their full potential.

Attendance

[My child’s] report shows his attendance at 90% but doesn’t mention why. I feel this is unfair has [my child’s] time off is due to hospital appointments.

Woolmore says: We are sorry you feel this is unfair. We are required to record a child as “present” only when they are actually in the school building. However, your child’s absences due to hospital appointments are not entered on their own record as unauthorised absence. We hope the hospital treatment helps your child make a full recovery.

Year 2 SATS Results

Woolmore says: Some parents of children in Year 2 told us that they had hoped to see their child’s SAT results on the annual report. Our annual reports are prepared by our own staff before the SATs results are known. They are sent out to parents on a separate sheet. In some years, we are able to send the report and the SATs results at the same time, but this year it was not possible.  All Year 2 children should have received a separate letter with their SATs results at the end of the Summer Term 2018. If you have not received these results, please contact the school.

And finally…

Thank you for your kind, overwhelming words. They really moved me to the point of glassy eyes. […] [It] makes me extremely proud that [my child’s] growth and future is nurtured within Woolmore Primary. On to next year!

[Child’s name] has really enjoyed coming to school this year and I can see such an improvement in her learning. She is looking forward to next year.

I am absolutely proud of [my child]. I can see her progress at home too. I also see how happy she comes home. Thank you for helping [her] settle in and building her confidence.

I am very surprised by how well [my child] has taken to school. This is mainly because she really enjoys engaging with her teachers and peers. A big thank you to all her teachers for helping her adapt so well to school.

I have also noticed at home, when we read stories together, that she struggles a little with reading and spelling – so I think that area [is one] I should try to improve with her. However, other than that I’m happy she is very well behaved in class.

Thank you for all the wonderful work and support given to [our child], both academically and socially. We feel so proud of [our child’s] achievements and to know that she is working hard to succeed.

It has been a fantastic and emotional read to see our eldest making such good progress at school and paving the way for her younger siblings. It couldn’t have happened without your immense love, support and nurturing. Thank you, all those involved.

I am very proud of [my child’s] progress and have noticed she is always counting and trying to writer her name at home. She has improved in recognising numbers and [letters].

The annual report is very detailed and helpful in understanding her focus areas. It gives excellent insights into her strengths and improvement areas. Thank you [teacher’s name] for being an amazing teacher and taking the time out for [my child’s] annual report card.

Do more, be more – Woolmore! This inspiration speech is tremendously reflected in my child’s annual report as I can feel the difference in his learning. […] We wholehearted appreciate teachers’ and other class assistants’ hard work.

Woolmore says: Thank you for these detailed comments. We look forward to working in partnership with our parents throughout the current school year to help all children achieve success.
