What is the Sports Premium?
Since 2013, the government has committed £150 million per year to improve PE and sport in state primary schools in England. Each year, all schools receive a PE and Sport Premium to help develop the quality of PE, sport and physical activity.
Purpose of the funding
At Woolmore, we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of our children. We believe that sports and extra-curricular clubs play an important role in promoting social inclusion, a healthy lifestyle and self-confidence.
Our aim is to use our funding to provide high-quality sporting opportunities for all pupils, improve the quality of sports and afterschool clubs and increase the opportunities for pupils to try different activities while raising participation across all groups.
We believe that an exciting and varied PE curriculum has a positive influence on concentration, attitudes to learning and academic achievement. Our offer of a rich and varied PE curriculum, as well as extra-curricular activities, help children to discover and develop their talents and enthusiasms, too.
