Year 4 Poplar

This week, we started working with our school song writer. We began our work by thinking about stories we liked and we used drama to show different types of characters.

To research our topic about how World War 2 affected the local area, we went to the Museum of the London Docklands. We found out what it was like to squeeze into an air raid shelter.

We used a range of media, including charcoal and photograph collaging, to create a study of our local area. It contrasts the destruction caused by World War 2 in the charcoal image with the modern environment of Canary Wharf in the collage.

In Year 4 this week, to celebrate our charity Kilimanjaro week, we researched facts about the mountain and used them to write haikus.

As part of our topic on World War 2, we studied the life of Winston Churchill. After learning some interesting and surprising facts, we wrote a biography of his life.
