Darcy Turner Workshop

Darcy Turner is a London based artist who came to work with our Reception classes to make a 3D “newspaper stixx” boat over the course of a day.

The children turned regular newspapers into solid “stixx” using their upper body muscles to turn the handle of a specialist machine and then proceeded to construct the boat using tape and cable ties. It was a task that involved a huge amount of concentration and impressive fine motor skills.

We ended up with a boat that can be used in role play which was a fitting end to our half term topic “On the Move”.
