End of Spring Term Update

Wow! What a term it has been. So many changes and so much learning in such a short space of time.

At the beginning of this half term we received a letter from the builders of our new school saying that they had found this really strange rock that looked like a fossil. Fortunately we were about to become fossil experts! We worked with our teacher, Laura, and our teaching assisitants, Rajna and Jess, to get to the bottom of this mystery. We found out exactly what type of fossil it was and discovered how fossils are made over thousands of years. Of course, we wrote to the builders to let them know our findings, then we made our own fossil! (Obviously this one wasn’t so old…)

In maths we have been working really hard on multiplication and division. Most of us really struggled at the beginning but we’ve really got the hang of it now. We all feel really proud of what we have achieved so far and can’t wait to do some more learning.

Our Topic this term was Active planet so we have been finding out a lot about how our planet works and how it does such crazy  and amazing stuff. We learnt about the different continents and even the tetonic plates – do you know what the ring of fire is? Our investigation on volcanoes meant that we actually got to make and see some EXPLODING volcanoes in the playgroud – we were all glad that they weren’t quite as dangerous as the real ones though!

We looked at different sorts of maps – some of us will make great explorers in the future J

Right in the middle of term we all got together to raise money for the Red Nose day charity. Everyone from Nursey to year 6 put in such a big effort to raise money for such a worthy cause. Our teachers came in wearing such silly outfits! Did you see Miss Argent’s wig?!? Our teacher Laura brought in lots of different things to decorate red nose cakes – she wasn’t so good at decorating – ours were much better!

We were really lucky that Sean from Bow Arts was able to work with us to make one HUGE piece of art work for our brand new hall. Even though we worked really hard on making this special piece of art it was loads of fun and Sean taught us loads about making and recognising patters.

We will always remember this half term as the time we moved into the new building. It was scary and strange. However very exciting. Although at first we may have felt a little worried we now LOVE our new school and feel so privileged to have such an amazing setting for our learning and growing. We will always look after this gift and we hope that you enjoyed your tours. J
