Jack and the Beanstalk

This week, we have been reading “Jack and the Beanstalk”.  All of our learning has involved characters from the story! We are also learning to do the “Woolmore Walk” when we travel around the school.

As part of our topic, we grew our own beans. Everyone is keeping their own bean diary, so that we can write and draw about the progress of our beans each week.

We also had a class discussion and asked, “What do plants need to grow?”

We have also started telling our own stories! We created a stage in the middle of our circle and took turns to tell stories. We performed our stories on the stage in front of our friends. These sessions will help build our confidence and language skills!

The Giant from Jack and the Beanstalk came to visit our classroom! He left us a giant sized letter, and challenged us to find objects that were longer and shorter than his footprints that he left behind!

In Maths, we have been learning to measure! We have been learning the language of height, length and size!

To help us further understand our topic of “Growing”, we have been growing sea  monkeys! We placed some eggs into a tank. We must feed them to help them grow!

Over the next few weeks, we will watch them grow. They can grow up to 2cm long!
