Robots!

To kick off our new topic of robots, we played a marvellously robotic and mathematical game. The class was divided into pairs, and, at its heart, the task was to complete a jigsaw puzzle of a robot. However, the catch was that no pair had all the right pieces to complete the puzzle. This meant that they had to rely on trading and negotiating with other pairs to get all the pieces of the puzzle that they needed.

Naturally, to do well in this task it took a range of different skills. On top of the mathematical problem solving skills, good team work was essential if the pair was going to finish the puzzle. Communication and negotiation skills were also essential, as it was only by using these that each pair could gather all the pieces that it needed.
