2D shapes from A4 paper
What have Year 6 been doing in maths this week? Having worked very hard on SATs exam questions for many weeks, they were given a more practical, fun activity.
Here is the challenge. How can we make 2D shapes from A4 paper?
The hardest shape to make was a hexagon as it had the most complicated set of folds. So everyone learnt to make a hexagon. The children were asked: What can we make with a lot of hexagons? A ball, of course, they replied! But it took the children a while to work out that you need a lot of hexagons, but also a pentagon.
